Cole Sutyak

AI Developer

I'm Cole, welcome to my page. I've been doing AI since early 2020. I have a masters degree in computer science from the University of Akron. I've integrated an MNIST Classifier into this site, try drawing a number in the background!

My Journey

  • Lead AI Developer

    📅 June 2023 - Present

    Sanctuary Software | SANCSOFT.COM

At Sanctuary Software, I drove technical strategy & project delivery from concept to launch for all things AI! I also got out there representing the company at conferences, building partnerships with founders & tech leads. I kicked off company-wide AI workshops covering basics, applications, & best practices. I led projects using tons of different AI tech: Reinforcement Learning (optimization, PPO models), Computer Vision (OCR, object detection, vision transformers, pose detection), Large Language Models (prompt engineering, chatbots, RAG systems), and Digital Signal Processing (for radar data). Plus, I worked closely with engineering to ensure hardware played nice with firmware.

  • Lead AI Developer

    📅 April 2020 - May 2023

    Xadite Perceptions | XADITE.COM

Xadite Perceptions is a startup I worked with during and right after college. We created a patented passive radar device tasked with identifying and locating RF sources like wifi, Bluetooth, and drones. I led the software team, focusing on delivering solutions efficiently even with limited resources. My technical leadership involved designing & building the embedded RF signal processing AI for our patented passive radar system, NED (n-phonic energy detector), using TensorFlow Lite to get optimized performance directly on the device. I also architected & deployed an AI training & deployment pipeline specifically for embedded systems, leveraging our small but mighty in-house server infrastructure.

  • Research Assistant

    📅 September 2021 - May 2022

    University of Akron | srcml.org

During my graduate degree at Akron, I worked with Dr. Collard on srcml. My main role was overseeing changes for later C++ versions. I attended weekly meetings with researchers & developers to discuss progress, challenges, & future iterations for the project.

  • Master of Science in Computer Science

    📅 September 2021 - May 2022

    University of Akron

I pursued an accelerated pathway to earn my Master's degree. I successfully completed my masters with a 3.96 GPA (that one A- still haunts me). This meant I finished both my Master's and Bachelor's degrees in 4 years total!

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science

    📅 September 2018 - May 2021

University of Akron (Williams Honors College)

For my undergrad at the University of Akron, I graduated from the Williams Honors College with an honors diploma, specializing in the Systems Track. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.89 GPA.
